Paratrechina longicornis
[Black Crazy Ant]
Classification: | Kingdom: Animalia | Phylum: Arthropoda | Class: Insecta | Order: Hymenoptera | Family: Formicidae | Genus: Paratrechina |
The ants working on a dead moth caterpillar and a withered flower from the Phasey Bean (Macroptilium lathyroides). I had no idea why the ants were interested in a dead flower. Both pictures were taken in my home.
A colony of the ants seen moving their larvae after a rain. One of the larva was much larger than the rest. It should be housing a future queen ant.
